As of October 5th, 2024, FIREPOL will be joining the FLARE Working Group on “Fires, Forests, and People: understanding the lived experience of fire types and governance in new eras of flammability”.
Some of the themes that will be discussed are as follows:
- Advance justice-centered fire governance by detailing fire regime types
- Shift from a carbon and biodiversity focus to an integrated understanding of fire
- Promote knowledge exchange and interdisciplinary connections
- Investigate how Connected Conservation approaches could advance positive fire futures
- Center health and wellbeing as they relate to forest fires
- Improve understanding of integrated fire management strategies in forest landscapes
